A most monstrous lie...
The abject distortions and gross falsehoods about the “Stalin repressions” arguably add up to the most vicious, longest lasting and most potent lie in human history.
This atrocious fakery has universally become “common knowledge” and is accepted as God's truth virtually everywhere – including Russia, of course.
This ugly deception has been shamelessly repeated, re-repeated and yet again re-repeated by imperialist propagandists and their toadies – and by simply uninformed people - with telling effect.
The smear goes well beyond the wild denunciations of the great revolutionary Joseph Stalin – who has easily become the most slandered individual in all of human history.
This lie aims at obscuring – by and large successfully - the enormous economic achievements and dramatic improvement in working people's lives that the Soviet people achieved under Joseph Stalin's leadership. Colossal gains that were made at the very time that the capitalist world was under the heel of the ruinous Great Depression. Even massive imperialist-directed and -financed subversion were incapable of large-scale disruption, much less wreckage of the USSR's vibrant socialist economy.
The Big Lie aims at obfuscating the fundamental truth that was demonstrated by the rapid advances of the USSR in the 1930s: that socialism, as opposed to capitalism, is a far more equitable, democratic and effective socio-economic system for advancing humanity's well-being. In spite of centuries of hard evidence to the contrary, super-exploitative and murderous capitalism is proclaimed as the savior!
The other side of the unscrupulous and lying attacks on Stalin and the Soviet Union is aimed – virtually without evoking dissent - at diverting attention away from the actual imperialist perpetrators of the crimes committed during that period of Soviet history. Foreign capitalist, in the main imperialist, countries ordered their vicious, mercenary and evil agents: (a) to foment widespread and sustained counter-revolutionary subversion that made governmental suppression existentially imperative; and (b) to brutally twist necessary reprisals against the saboteurs into a mass campaign of imprisonment and murder of innocent Soviet citizens.
Simultaneously, crocodile imperialist tears for the victims of the grotesquely mis-named “Stalin repressions” promote sycophants' proclamations that vicious imperialist regimes are the “champions” of justice, human rights and democracy! In contrast to allegedly “dictatorial communism.”
Reactionary ideologues and propagandists operate on both fronts simultaneously. They first loudly deny that any mass campaign of sabotage took place in the USSR; that all this was simply concocted by Stalin in his “ruthless power-grabbing.” Then they hide the harsh reality that imperialist – mainly German Nazi – agents were ordered by their foreign overlords to unleash the widespread injustices that followed. Behind the backs (temporarily) of Stalin and the other honest communists in the Soviet leadership.
All of this amounts to a grotesque apologia for capitalism, especially the United States and the other major imperialist states. Even the brutal nazis of Germany appear to be “not so bad.” The cover extends to hiding the fact that Ягода and Ежов and many other arch-criminals in the НКВД repressions were in fact German Nazi agents! And the Hitlerite secret service acted in coordination with other anti-communist governments, undoubtedly including the United States and Great Britain.
Both the imperialist – not only Nazi - directed sabotage and the mass repressions were “softening up” preludes to the monstrous armed invasion of the USSR in June, 1941. It should never be forgotten that the United States in the first place and other “democratic” imperialist countries likewise massively and energetically built up the Hitler war machine and incited the Nazis and their fascist allies to brutally attack the Soviet Union (see my series “Америка и фашизм»).

Needless to say, the supremely lying anti-Stalin agitation was a major ideological weapon in CIA-agent Gorbachev's phony “перестройка», which was the final stage of the decades-long imperialist-plot to destroy the Soviet Union.
And Троцкий, Бухарин... Ягода, Ежов... were the forerunners of Хрущев, Горбачев, Ельцин, Гайдар, the КГБ... in the grand betrayal — the overthrow of the USSR - that was organized, financed and directed by the powerful world-wide capitalist enemies of socialism.
