Next crash will be ‘worse than the Great Depression’

Ten years ago, it was too-easy credit that brought financial markets to their knees. Today, it could be a global debt of $247 trillion that causes the next crash.

After a decade of escalating US household debt brought on by low wages and the national debt more than doubling over the same time frame, to $21 trillion, debt could soon put the brakes on this economic recovery, analysts warn.

“We think the major economies are on the cusp of this turning into the worst recession we have seen in 10 years,” said Murray Gunn, head of global research at Elliott Wave International. He added: “Should the [US] economy start to shrink, and our analysis suggests that it will, the high nominal levels of debt will instantly become a very big issue.”

US household debt of $13.3 trillion now exceeds the 2008 peak. That’s due in part to mortgage lending, which is hovering near its decade-ago level of $9 trillion-plus.


Student loans outstanding have skyrocketed from $611 billion in 2008 to around $1.5 trillion today.


Auto loans, at nearly $1.25 trillion, have exceeded the 2008 total, while credit card balances are just as high now as before the Great Recession.


Meanwhile, global debt — a result of central bankers flooding economies with cheap money to lift them out of a funk — is now $247 trillion, up from $177 trillion in 2008. That is close to 2½ times the size of the global economy.

“We won’t be able to call it a recession, it’s going to be worse than the Great Depression,” said economic commentator Peter Schiff, forecasting a major economic downturn as early as the tail end of the Trump presidency’s first term. “The US economy is in so much worse shape than it was a decade ago.”

Economic theorists say insurmountable debt is the big kahuna. The huge sums today certainly fed the boom times. But since it must eventually be repaid, the tipping point will come when a wave of defaults by overwhelmed borrowers — potentially squeezed by rising interest rates — leads to a widespread reduction in spending and incomes.

We are going to have a dollar crisis — wait till you see when the dollar is imploding and we have a sovereign debt crisis in the US. The US government is going to be given a choice between defaulting on the debt, or else massive runaway inflation.

Insights Into The US Secret Political Police 2

Let us examine matters issue by issue.

One of a kind...

From my early teenage years, I was a convinced advocate of socialist revolution. As a young man, I became the objective of US secret political police surveillance, interference and attempts to dissuade me from my firmly held views. Later in life, the American Gestapo intensified the attacks and in 1986 went even further, instigating a vicious campaign of severe harassment and outright terror that forced me to exit the USA and seek political asylum in the Soviet Union.


Which branch of the massive and monstrous US lie, spy, criminal, provocation, subversion and regime change, terror, drug-runnning, torture, war and mass murder apparatus was mainly responsible for pursuing Arnold Lockshin is not particularly important. Presumably it was the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), which is reputed to be the main governmental enemy of dissidents in America.

In my case, I was a very special target of the US secret political police simply because of my political views and (fully legal) actions. After I obtained my Ph.D. (doctorate) degree at the University of Wisconsin Madison, I joined the so-called “Communist Party USA”. “Worse” yet: after I got married in 1969 I became a full-time organizer for the “Party.”

In those early years, I was then totally naive about what the “CP” was really about. Who was there to teach me? No one, of course.


“For most of the time of my 'Party' membership, I was a full-time political organizer, mainly for the 'Party' itself. I was the organizer and secretary for the 'Party' in two regions considered important - Ohio and then Southern California - and a member of the 'Central Committee' from the fall of 1969 to the middle of 1977.


“I attended numerous, numerous meetings at all levels and personally knew all the 'Party's' national leaders and virtually all of the state or district leaders as well. I knew all of the 'Party' members in New England (where I first joined the 'Party'), in Ohio and Southern California (of course). I came into contact with many or even most of the 'Communist Party' members in New York, Illinois, Indiana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Northern California and in other regions...

“When I was a member, the 'Communist Party USA' had about 2,000 – 3,000 members nationwide, although the 'Party' 'leaders' claimed about ten times that number...

“The yearly budget of the 'Party' ran into the several millions of dollars. When I was in the 'Party,' there were up to or more than 200 people – including journalists and people in subsidiary organizations - who were on the 'Party' payroll. They all lived well, and showed no signs of financial or other hardship.


“2,000 to 3,000 'Party' members is, of course, a very small percentage of the US population. But is would be a highly significant number – if composed of genuine revolutionaries. 200 or so full-time political organizers is by no means a trivial number...

“What were all the 'revolutionary' 'Party' members and full-time organizers doing? Having meetings after meetings, and meetings about meetings. Engaging in 'fund drives' for the 'Party' newspapers and occasionally fielding candidates to run for one or another public office. Efforts to build genuine mass struggle against poverty, racism and war were absent.


“Eventually it became evident that the 'Communist Party USA' was a completely sham organization, run by the vast US lie, spy, criminal, provocation, subversion and regime change, terror, drug-runnning, torture, war and mass murder apparatus. What is also important to note is that the FBI spent several millions of dollars yearly to sponsor this charade.


“And the 'Communist Party USA' was only one of many, many such bogus outfits.


“When I found it impossible to identify even a single honest communist in the 'Party,' I left. It can be argued that I personally did not know every last member of the 'Communist Party USA,' but that is hardly significant. If there were an honest communist or two or even a few somewhere in the US (very unlikely), that would have been of no political significance. Any such individual(s) had absolutely no influence on 'Party' activities or policies and would have been destroyed long ago.” (Dictatorship USA – Part 5)


I have good reason to believe that there was not a single honest (non-stooge) individual other than myself in the entire “Communist Party USA.” What I know for sure is that there was not a single other genuine communist in the entire venal batch of full-time organizers in the “Party.”


Arnold Lockshin was the single exception. In the United States of America, Lockshin was one of a kind.


For the vicious US Gestapo, I was not only special; I was ideal. I was a prize of sorts. These bastards were free do anything they liked with me.

No Constitution, no Bill of Rights, no due process, no human rights etc. etc. count for the American secret political police or the US powers-that-be – except as deceptive, lying propaganda about fake American “democracy.”

How to deal with me? Murder for the American nazi secret police is always an option. No problem there. But why kill Lockshin immediately? He was no actual threat to the reign of US imperialism, after all. Far better to use him in an important special operation.

What special operation? To manipulate Arnold as a hapless tool in the most intensive and vital historical endeavor of US imperialism: as a valuable propaganda asset in the rapidly approaching final destruction of the Soviet Union.

And then kill him, of course.

Opioids only partly explain America’s ‘deaths of despair’

Drug overdoses aren’t the only reason for shortening life expectancies.

The decline in U.S. life expectancy and rise in “deaths of despair” have been widely attributed to the growing opioid crisis, but new research says there are many more factors at play, including income inequality.

The psychological well-being of Americans has been dwindling for the last 40 years, affecting all groups and regions of the country, but opioids only tell part of that story, according to a report released Friday by the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.

So-called “deaths of despair” have typically been associated with drug-related causes, especially opioid overdoses. Drug overdose-deaths soared by 21% in 2016, mostly because of widespread distribution of synthetic opioids like fentanyl, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There’s been a notable increase in the mortality rate of white, middle-aged men and women with no high school education. But the new Columbia report says drugs are only a part of the problem. The increase in mortality and decline in health of Americans affects all people and started way before the opioid epidemic,

Expensive health care is likely the most important factor, the study found. Medical costs have risen 34% in the last decade, outpacing income growth. People sometimes delay seeking treatment until they have the funds. About 27 million adults pay for their health care on credit cards.

The U.S. has fallen behind other countries in several key areas, including education, income equality, environmental protection and private gun ownership regulation, the Columbia researchers said.

As for income inequality, it’s worse. The top 1% of Americans earned 26.3 times as much as the bottom 99% in 2015, a jump from 2013 when they made 25.3 times the bottom. In fact, the top 1% hasn’t controlled that much wealth — 22% of total income in 2015 — since right before the Great Depression.
Income has stagnated for millions of Americans

Incomes aren’t growing to keep up with families’ spending needs, or their growing debt. The middle class has shrunk dramatically in the last few decades. “Deaths of despair” is part of a problem that has recently received a good deal of attention because whites were identified as the primary victims, the latest report concludes, “but it is a problem that is more extensive and more enduring.”

Insights Into The US Secret Political Police 1

The book “Silent Terror” is important. «Безмолвный террор — История политических гонений на семью в США» - "Silent Terror: One family's history of political persecution in the United States» - arnoldlockshin.wordpress.com


This book, written some 30 years ago, describes the ideology and subversive activities of the massive US secret political police apparatus better than any other material I have encountered. Naturally, “Silent Terror” has effectively been “buried” - in the US, Russia and around the world.
The horrendous US lie, spy, criminal, provocation, subversion and regime change, terror, drug-runnning, torture, war and mass murder apparatus does its dirty work with expertise and enormous power.


“Silent Terror” covers a fairly wide spectrum of US imperialist police-state machinations with a special focus on the multifarious campaign of harassment and terror directed against me personally in the United States. The purpose of these vicious ploys was to force Arnold Lockshin out of the US and to seek political asylum in the Soviet Union in 1986. That aspect of the political police campaign against me was successful. The second part – to compel me to leave the USSR and return to the US – did not work out for the US Gestapo and their accomplices. More on this later.


Why elaborate on this line of discourse?


Because I have learned considerably more about the US secret political police and their henchmen. In 1986 I knew full well who stood behind the campaign of harassment and terror directed against me and also against my young children. About my so-called “wife,” more later.

But I did not then know the purpose, the grand scheme behind these attacks.

When my family and I arrived in Moscow in October 1986, I had no idea the Soviet Union and Communist Party, the Soviet secret police KGB (КГБ), the Soviet mass media and other important institutions were run by traitors who were completely in the hands of the American CIA.

At that time, I had no way of knowing this reality. Similarly, I did not know and could not have known what was planned for me here in Moscow.

Portions of what I intend to relate have been posted before. They bear repeating in a fuller context.

Proof?...

Often when I discuss the pernicious characteristics and anti-human actions of the imperialist secret political police, people sometimes ask for “proof”. What they really demand is that I somehow obtain and divulge authentic, internal, secret documents etc. from the American CIA and its vicious, incredibly filthy partners in crime. It goes without saying that I cannot furnish any such documents. Any demand along these lines is absurd.

What firm knowledge I have to contribute comes from over 6 decades – since my early teenage years – of being “guided”, closely surveilled, victimized and then terrorized by the US secret political police.

In my youth, I had no concept of US secret political police activities. However, subsequent voluminous experience and intent study has allowed me – over a period of many years - to revisit earlier episodes and put these matters in proper context.


This logical analysis/explanation of the brutal machinations and horrific crimes of the US and US-led secret political police is the best proof available.


American “democracy”...


Inundated by constant pro-US propaganda, some people are convinced that America's rulers would not foster horrendous anti-democratic practices and crimes employing a massive secret political police as a dominant force.


Nonsense! Much worse than nonsense!


Concerning US imperialism's massive and continuous support for Adolph Hitler and the German Nazi military machine (even as American soldiers were dying in World War II !), I wrote the following:


“Long before the Nazis came on the scene, the 'great', 'democratic' United States of America achieved Hitler's Lebesraum (living space) with the utterly ruthless near-extermination of Native Americans. The "liberal world order" is in jeopardy.

Simply said, the last decade has seen those who hold financial assets become richer, as markets have lurched higher; meanwhile those without such assets - the vast majority of the middle class - have been increasingly left behind, however, even as wage growth remained stagnant and indebted governments have struggled to provide strong social support. As a result, a great wave of populism emerged as "issues such as wealth and income inequality have started to polarize societies much more."

The wealth of the top 1% globally has surpassed $100tr now…a number greater than the sum of the big-4 central bank balance sheets, current world GDP and the cost of the ‘07/’08 global financial crisis, for instance.

The great divide between the haves and the have nots has manifested itself not only in terms of accumulated wealth, but income as well, as the wealthy have had greater income-generating opportunities at their disposal, mostly due to access to better technology and education. It is therefore mostly the wealthy that have been able to reap the benefits of globalization.

Meanwhile, the top 1% richest in the world have witnessed impressive income growth since 1980 – in many cases, multiples of that seen by the less well-off in society.

Insights Into The US Secret Political Police – Prologue

Counter revolution and destruction of the Soviet Union were the decades-long product of brutal wars and intense conspiracy, threats and widespread subversion. Nothing was more important for world imperialism – above all for the United States of America – than overthrowing the first and most powerful socialist state.

These foul and murderous assaults began with the massive foreign military invasion of Russia almost immediately after the successful October socialist revolution. The mis-named “Civil War” - Гражданская война (1917-1922) was first and foremost enormous and bloody foreign intervention, with the US also sending invading troops. Domestic counter-revolutionaries widely participated in the frightful massacre, but they would have been a minor force without wholesale multinational imperialist incitement, mobilization, funds and plentiful supplies of arms and munitions.

All-around massive imperialist – first of all, US – instigation, abetment and support of the incredibly brutal Nazi government and military machine was another villainous attempt aimed first and foremost at destroying the socialist USSR. (See my series of posts (“Америка и Фашизм» и «Как США и Англия тайно финансировали Гитлера и его поход на СССР».)

All of this and more – including forcing the Soviet Union to engage in an expensive large-scale arms race after World War II – took their toll. But the ultimately decisive counter-revolutionary force was internal subversion; the Soviet Union was “conquered” from within.

While the USSR, led by Lenin and then Stalin, had mass popular support, far from everyone supported the socialist revolution. It was not difficult for western, above all US, “intelligence” services to recruit and direct an army of perfidious assets in a decades-long subversive campaign within the Soviet Union.

In the 1930s, overt internal disruption, sabotage and diversion in the USSR were largely stymied. The costs, however, were high, as imperialist – first of all, Nazi – agents had captured the Soviet secret services and in the guise of the war against sabotage, conducted mass repression of innocent Soviet citizens (see my series Империализм: Генератор «Сталинских Репрессий»). At the same time, actual imperialist-led collaborators simply retreated, becoming “model” - even “ super communists” - while never abandoning their anti-soviet strivings.

These covert subversive forces included the Soviet secret services, the НКВД and its successor the КГБ (and now the CIA-directed ФСБ in Russia). Other traitorous elements not only survived but gained additional influence and power in society. The mass media was – and remains to this day - in the hands of CIA operatives like Владимир Познер and many others of that ilk.

Josef Stalin's death in 1953 provided the impetus for anti-Soviet elements to gain the decisive upper hand in the USSR. CIA agent Никита Хрущёв - Nikita Khrushchev's ludicrously distorted, slanderous and vicious denuciation of Stalin (at the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1956) marked a decisive point in the ascension to power of pro-imperialist forces in the USSR. Honest communists were forced out of the Party. The time was not then ripe, however, for immediate counter-revolution. The Soviet people, fiercely proud of their socialist achievements and their great victory over Nazi Germany and its allies, then would have resisted the mass impoverishment and humiliation accompanying the abject sellout of their country to US-NATO countries' imperialism.

Yet the stage was set for Горбачев, Ельцин, Гайдар, Яковлев and many thousands more imperialist-led agents to later take over the reins of the Party, government and key institutions in the country. And to weaken and compromise the USSR in preparation for total counter-revolution.


Not neglected in the anti-Soviet subversion campaign was augmentation from the outside. The “Voice of America,” “Radio Free Europe,” foreign popularization of “dissidents,” etc. also played their mass propaganda role and served as intelligence links with internal saboteurs.

Where does Arnold Lockshin fit into all of this?

My projected role as an unwitting tool in the final stage of the overthrow of the Soviet Union was a minor – but not insignificant - one. A thousand Arnold Lockshins or no Arnold Lockshin – counter-revolution was a certainty. It is nonetheless useful to examine this case more deeply and thereby gain further insight about how the ultra-insidious, monstrous and massive US-led subversion machine operates.

What should immediately stand out is the enormous effort, energy and money at the disposal of the US Gestapo to condition just a single secondary and virtually unknown figure for his projected unwilling complicity in the powerful anti-Soviet campaign. This speaks to the enormous importance US imperialism attached to the destruction of the USSR. It also testifies to the vast monetary assets and unrestrained freedom of maneuver available to the bestial so-called “intelligence” services of the US police state dictatorship.

Put the Lockshin case in proper context: hundreds of billions of dollars (in today's money) were spent to destroy the USSR; tens of millions of people perished. The years of secret political police expenditures (some millions of dollars overall), time and focused effort expended on me were, relatively speaking, a trifle.

What unfolds in my case is a decades-long campaign of patient preparation – in the main interference, harassment and later outright terror, but also occasional nurturing and coddling. Default Wave As $1.3 Trillion In Debt Is Set To Mature

The financial elite is obsessed with what will send the world spiraling into the next financial crisis. The most likely catalyst to emerge is corporate debt.

What would be the trigger for corporate meltdown?

The most likely precipitating factor would be rising interest rates which after the next major round of debt rollovers over the next several years in an environment of rising rates would push corporate cash flows low enough that debt can no longer be serviced effectively.

While low rates in the past decade have been a boon to capital markets, pushing investors into stocks, a dangerous side-effect of this decade of rate repression has been companies eagerly taking advantage of low rates to more than double their debt levels since 2007. Companies have also been able to take advantage of lower borrowing rates to drive their average interest costs lower each year this cycle.... until now.

Interest expenses will flip from a tailwind for growth to a headwind on a go-forward basis. There is a substantial amount of debt coming due over the next few years: according to the bank's estimates there is over $1.3 trillion of debt for our non-financials coverage maturing through 2020, roughly 20% of the total debt outstanding.

As rates are finally rising - as this debt comes due, it is unlikely that companies will be able to roll to lower rates than they are currently paying. While rising rates has already become a theme in several sectors such as Utilities and Real Estate, this has the potential to be more widespread.

There has been a sharp pickup in the “Recession 2020” narrative as of late. Specifically, along with the growth of the fiscal deficit which will see US debt increase by over $1 trillion next year, the fact that debt growth has outpaced earnings growth this cycle has implications.

Which brings us round circle to the potential catalyst of the next crisis: record debt levels: net debt has increased while cash levels have declined.

Many on Wall Street have highlighted the deterioration in the investment grade space, i.e., the universe of "near fallen angels", or companies that could be downgraded from BBB to junk,

As for the worst case scenario, it should be self-explanatory: a sharp slowdown in the economy, coupled with a major repricing of bond market risk could result in a crash in the bond market, which together with the stock market has been the biggest beneficiary of the Fed's unorthodox monetary policies. Furthermore, should companies suddenly find themselves unable to refinance debt, or - worse - rollover debt maturities, would lead to a wave of corporate defaults that starts at the lowest level of the capital structure and moves its way up.

Ross formerly headed private-equity company WL Ross & Co. All told, the amount comes to more than $120 million in aggregate value.

Among the reported allegations, three former WL Ross executives say Ross and his firm charged at least $48 million in improper fees, then pocketed the money.

Ross’s firm was also charging investors on money that it had lost, according to five former employees — allegedly even charging fees on one investment that was essentially worthless.

Former colleagues remember Ross taking handfuls of Sweet ’N Low (artificial sweetener) packets from a restaurant so he didn’t have to buy them himself.

Alibaba’s Jack Ma has warned that the ongoing US-China trade war could last at least 20 years. As we’ll see, it’s actually more like 30 – up to 2049, the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

Steve Bannon always boasted that President Trump was bound to conduct a “sophisticated form of economic warfare” to confront China.

The logic underpinning the warfare is that if you squeeze the Chinese economy hard enough Beijing will submit.

The Trump administration plan has three basic targets:
1. Displace China from the heart of global supply chains.
2. Force companies to source elsewhere in the Global South all the components necessary for manufacturing their products.
3. Force multinational corporations to stop doing business in China.

The overarching concept is that unending confrontation with China is bound to scare companies/investors away.

There’s no evidence South Korean or German conglomerates, for instance, would withdraw from the vast Chinese market and/or production facilities. And even if the Flight Away from China actually happened, arguably the American economy would suffer as much, if not more, than China’s.


What’s certain is that Beijing will not just play defense. Beijing sees the trade war as “protracted.”

16 декабря 2014 года указом президента Украины Петра Порошенко был назначен на пост секретаря Совета национальной безопасности и обороны Украины... Турчинова — один из лидеров «ястребов» украинской политики, в число наиболее агрессивных украинских политиков. Целый ряд его высказываний и предложений вызывали крайне неоднозначную реакцию не только на Украине. Так, Турчинов заявлял о возможности создать на Украине «грязную» ядерную бомбу,.. что СССР наряду с Германией развязал Вторую мировую войну. "They're Getting Eaten Alive", Momentum In Hospital Closings

A new report has sounded the alarm about the pace of hospital closures across the country. It says there are several factors pressuring margins at hospitals that are contributing to the accelerating rate of closures, particularly in rural communities.

The American Hospital Association (AHA) conducts an annual survey of hospitals in the United States. The data shows hospitals have been closing at a rate of about 30 per annum.

Roughly 6,000 US private and public hospitals and determined eight percent are at risk of closing; another 10 percent are considered extremely “weak,” based on criteria for margins for earnings before interest and other items, occupancy and revenue.

The next wave of hospital closings could be triggered in the next 6 to 18 months. There are already a lot of hospitals with high negative margins, and that’s going to become unsustainable. Rural hospitals with a smaller footprint may have less room to negotiate rates with managed care companies and are often hobbled by more older and poorer patients. There have been 83 rural hospital closures since 2010 and 125 since 2005.

As for the incoming wave of hospital closures that is expected to hit in the near term, well, it is more bad news for rural America that seems to have been left out of the “greatest economy ever.”

Секреты Развала Советского Союза

«Закон СССР «Об органах государственной безопасности в СССР»: Комитет государственной безопасности провозглашался «политическим органом», осуществляющим мероприятия Центрального Комитета КПСС и Правительства СССР «по защите социалистического государства от посягательств со стороны внешних и внутренних врагов, а также по охране государственной границы СССР». (1) В СССР никто не мог стать членом Компартии без тщательной, полной «проверки» со стороны КГБ. Не было такого партийного лидера или государственного деятеля, который продвигался вперед — на каждом шагу - без одобрения именно КГБ. Если КГБ, то есть, фактически ЦРУ, дал зеленый свет для вступления «товарища» в определенную должность, значит, всё «окей».


Видимость КГБ как строжайшие «сверх-коммунистические» силы в обществе стала прикрытием внедрения на все уровни КПСС, государства и лидерства общества махровых — тогда тайных - антикоммунистов, продажных агентов западных спецслужб.


(2) Одновременно КГБ запугивал, подавил честных граждан. ЦРУ-КГБ стремилось не допустить добросовестных лиц заниматься политикой или претендовать на ответственные посты, партийную или комсомольскую работу или государственные должности.


При продиктованной ЦРУ-КГБ подрывной деятельности приходила к власти большая команда закоренелых врагов социализма и Советского Союза. В результате стали укрепляться отрицательные явления в обществе: коррупция и бюрократия, застой экономики, ухудшение уровня жизни, обострение межнациональных конфликтов, кажущийся разрыв между марксистско -ленинской теорией и реальностью ежедневной жизни.


(3) Продажные, захваченные ЦРУ - КГБ здешние СМИ стали сильно хвалить западную, особенно американскую, «демократию», капитализм... Нарастало в обществе антикоммунистическое настроение.


Даже при всем этом подавляющее большинство советских людей было против развала СССР. Победило меньшинство с огромной помощью зарубежных, особенно американских, подрывных сил.


(4) Неуклюжая и нерешительная «борьба» КГБ против откровенных врагов Советского Союза - так-называемых «диссидентов» - была всего лишь прикрытием для прихода к власти в СССР действующих разрушительных сил. И «диссиденты» стали «героями» местной и международной антисоветской кампании.

"Retirement Crisis": The Typical Working American Has Nothing Saved For Retirement

A startling new report issued by the non-profit National Institute on Retirement Security found that despite the "recovery" of the last decade leading to all time highs in the stock market, the savings levels of Americans who seek to retire are "deeply inadequate". In fact, the median retirement account balance among working individuals was found to be $0.


The report found that more than 100 million Americans that are of working age don’t have any retirement account assets in an employer sponsored 401(k) type plan, individual account, or pension, at all.

To make matters worse, 4 out of 5 working Americans were also found to have less than one year's income in their retirement accounts. Even those that are trying to save for retirement are failing to do so effectively, according to the study. It’s stated that 77% of Americans come up short of even the most conservative retirement savings targets for their age, based on estimates that have them working until age 67.

The analysis also found that "a large majority of working Americans" can’t meet a substantially reduced savings target.

Retirement is in peril for most working-class Americans. When all working individuals are considered — not just the minority with retirement accounts—the typical working American has zero, zilch, nothing saved for retirement.

What this report means is that the American dream of a modest retirement after a lifetime of work now is a middle-class nightmare.

The report found that the gap in retirement account ownership has been widened by growing income inequality, which is being fueled our monetary policy, which brutalizes the middle and lower class while rewarding major institutions and the wealthy.

America's millennial generation is burdened by debt, effectively precluded from home ownership and increasingly disgruntled and pessimistic about their future prospects forwealth and happiness.

What were the American Gestapo's miscalculations with respect to me?


# I would never, never join the imperialist camp. My return to America would signify that I had rejected my life-long ideals and was prepared to plead with my Nazi tormentors for forgiveness and mercy. No way. (Even my total self-abasement and tearful sublications would not have saved my life!)


# If socialism had defects, it was my job to do what I could to make the system better. Of course, Gorbachev's CIA “perestroika” was anti-socialist, anti-communist, treacherous and counter-revolutionary. Which I figured out after just a few months in the USSR.


# I came to understand that the “soviet” KGB was a filthy tool of the CIA and under their firm control. Thus, the contrived difficuties, insults, provocations and harassment I was forced to endure in the USSR had nothing to do with the intrinsic nature of socialism, but in fact were American imperialist in origin!


Psychological warfare and provocations – everyday tools of US imperialism...


Psychological warfare is a very flexible weapon, geared to the Gestapo's analysis of the victim and of changing circumstances. Nonetheless, there are definite patterns in the application of this horrendous scourge, and the basic system of the FBI in the US and the KGB/FSB in the USSR/Russia in principle were/are the same.


I have explained why so much effort was expended for so many years to ruin the life of a single individual. Nothing out of the ordinary. Murder is the usual lot of someone attacked – abroad and at home - by the US secret political police, and so far I have escaped that fate. The intended provocations against me were unique in many respects, but in the broader picture my torment/abuse was just one of uncountable imperialist provocations of massive scope. What is special about all this is that I survived the onslaught and lived to tell about it.


My case mainly concerns an historic episode – the destruction of the Soviet Union - which for many people is simply past history. To be sure, I regard it as a victory that I was not totally destroyed. But for all that, US imperialism merely suffered the absence of a plus for them. Neither the powers-that-be in the US nor the US Gestapo has suffered any substantial negatives. And the American CIA, acting mainly through their Russian FSB puppets, goes to extraordinary lengths to ensure that what I have to relate remains essentially hidden from the broader public.


The CIA-FSB aiming to make Russia a colony of US imperialism...


The broader question is what happens to the Russian people if US imperialism continues to have an iron grip on the Russian secret services.


As the exerience of the USSR demonstrates, this is the pathway to ruin.


And the President of the Russian Federation emerged precisely from the loins of the CIA-controlled KGB and then became the nominal head of the FSB. Thus he cannot but know that my exposition of the traitorous Russian secret political police is right on the money.


Yet in spite of the growing overt and covert hostility of the US ruling class and government to Russia and to its people, Putin continues to support the treacherous FSB. This CIA-run outfit may well become the asp in the bosom of the Russian Federation, converting this country to an oppressed, victimized and desperately impoverished colony of brutal and ruthless US imperialism.

40% of Americans struggle to pay for at least one basic need like food or rent
Market Watch, Sept. 15, 2018

New data from the Urban Institute found that ‘food insecurity’ was the most common hardship. Many people still struggle to pay bills — even for something as basic as food.

Some 39.4% of adults said their families had trouble meeting at least one basic need for food, health care, housing, or utilities last year. Nearly 24% of respondents reported two or more hardships in 2017 and 14% said they experienced at least three of these.

Researchers said the social safety net for low-income Americans “may be undergoing significant changes.” In fact, almost two-thirds of families with incomes below the federal poverty level — currently $25,100 for a family of four — had problems meeting these basic needs.

The most common hardship Americans said they faced was food insecurity, with 23.3% of respondents saying they did not have reliable access to a sufficient amount of affordable and nutritious food. Other basic needs Americans had trouble meeting included paying medical bills (18% of respondents), getting medical care (17.8%), missing utility bill payments (13%) and missing rent or mortgage payments (10.2%).

Adults under the age of 35 were 8.6 percentage points more likely to report a financial hardship, which echoes recent research that has suggested young adults experience more difficulty staying afloat financially. Women, black Americans, Hispanic Americans and single adults were also more likely to struggle to make ends meet. Close to 20% of people whose household income was 400% above the federal property level also experienced some sort of difficulty meeting a basic need.

These results are supported by previous research. Earlier this year, 43% of households said they couldn’t afford a basic monthly budget for housing, food, transportation, child care, health care and a monthly smartphone bill. The U.S was one of 18 countries in which people said they were actually worse off than half a century ago.

The rich get richer, while the poor are stuck in low-paid jobs.

Arnold Lockshin – a pawn in a very dirty and very important game (3)...



How to use the pawn-“prize”...


Arnold Lockshin was considered to be a valuable asset – perhaps enormously valuable – as a psychological warfare pawn in the inexorable destruction of soviet socialism and destruction of the USSR itself – and its aftermath.


I have described the essence of the filthy psychwar campaign in my series “Insights into the US secret political police” (posts 4-8). I will merely summarize the main points:


# The fascist US secret political police conducted a many-sided terror campaign aimed at forcing me out of the United States to flee to the Soviet Union;


# In the USSR, I was given political asylum, my denouncements of US imperialism were publicized and I was made a public figure (if only for a relatively short period);


# The CIA, acting through its completely controlled, corrupted, murderous political police in the USSR – the KGB, harassed, insulted, deceived and agonized me, surreptitiously and undetectable by the public, all aimed at shaking my faith in socialism and prompting my bitter regret at having come to the Soviet Union;


# The aim: to compel me to return to the US – or even just enter the US Embassy;*


# Mission expected to be accomplished! Back in the US, the American Gestapo would murder me – a “suicide” would be declared and widely publicized. The plot to murder me would turn full circle and be executed.


(If I had refused to leave the US in 1986, I would have been killed at that time. The horrendous and merciless US lie, spy, criminal, provocation, subversion and regime change, terror, drug-runnning, torture, war and mass murder apparatus would simply have had no further use for me.)


# “My intended bouncing in and out of the USSR plus my subsequent “suicide” would “prove” that Arnold Lockshin was “crazy.” The CIA-controlled “soviet” mass media would give enormous publicity to this “suicide” and fiercely criticize the “communists” for offering “insane” Lockshin political asylum and for disseminating his attacks on the (wonderful) US;


# Thesis: “deranged” Lockshin “hated” the United States; Lockshin returned to America, killed himself and thereby proved that he was crazy – just as the US had warned when he landed in Moscow;


# Conclusions: Only crazy people oppose American imperialism. America is the friend of the Soviet people (and of all peoples!) and will lead them out of their difficulties. “Down with Communism! Down with the Soviet Union! God bless America! God bless America! God bless America!”

Why Arnold Lockshin was considered “useful”...


By 1986, the long-awaited and assiduously concocted demise of USSR was a sure thing. Lockshin could not have possibly influenced the outcome of the monumental subversion and treachery campaign in its last moments.


But there were at least two areas where the brutal psychwar plot against me and the Soviet people could yield positive (for US imperialism) results.


(1)At the time, the final destruction of the Soviet Union was the Number One objective of imperialism in general, US imperialism in particular.** This was an all-out endeavor!


What was studiously hidden from the Soviet people (while widely accepted and applauded in the West) is that the consequences of the “market economy” (capitalism) would be enormously harsh for the Soviet people.


“Economic reform in Russia was accompanied by millions of early deaths... Millions of people—chiefly men in late middle age—died earlier than their counterparts in other countries. That drop, of fully five years in male life expectancy between 1991 and 1994, demands explanation. A newly published article in the Lancet, a British medical journal that in recent years has used epidemiological analysis to examine political and social questions, argues that the clear culprit was mass privatisation... A statistical analysis, it says, shows that this element of the economic-reform package, nicknamed “shock therapy”, clearly correlates with higher mortality rates.” (Mass murder and the market, The Economist, Jan. 22, 2009)


The Lockshin-based “shtick” was aimed at (a) further concealing this coming catastrophe, and then (b) helping to assuage public feeling when the barbarous reality hit home.


(2) My “job” was likewise intended to significantly counter anti-American ideology among the Soviet people. With the aim of facilitating US imperialist economic as well as political control of post-Soviet Russia.*** With Lockshin's projected “suicide,” criticism of US policies would be out of place - an absolutely “crazy” thing to do.

* If I ever entered the US Embassy in Moscow, legally speaking I would be in the United States of America. “The grounds of foreign embassies and some consulates, like vessels at sea, are considered part of the territory of the nation they represent.” (Territorial jurisdiction, Wikipedia)

Any pretext – or none at all - could easily be contrived to detain me at the Embassy and then ship me back to the US. That is, to my death. Even, years later, after I became a Russian citizen, I could expect no help or even a hint of a protest from the Russian Government.

US embassies are known to be guarded inside by US Marines. “The Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, a battalion-sized organization of U.S. Marines whose detachments provide security at American embassies” (Marine Security Guard, Wikipedia). Fat chance I would have to battle a battalion of young, husky marines and fight my way back out!

** The eventual results of the Soviet Union's demise have fallen quite short of what the US rulers anticipated for Russia. But that is a matter of a separate discussion.


*** While Russia has – so far - escaped US imperialism's suffocating grasp, several former Soviet republics are now effectively colonies of US imperialism: Ukraine is the most obvious case, but there are also Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Georgia...

Majority Of Young Americans Live In A Household Receiving Welfare

The majority of Americans under 18 live in households that take "means-tested assistance" from the US government.

The study, based on the most recently available data from the Census Bureau, leads with the question: Will they be called The Welfare Generation?

The data shockingly reveals that in 2016 "there were approximately 73,586,000 people under 18 in the United States, and 38,365,000 of them — or 52.1 percent — resided in households in which one or more persons received benefits from a means-tested government program."

In terms of the country's total population of 319.9 million Americans, the data finds that 114.8 million, or about 36 percent, lived as part of a household in which someone collected welfare.

The study found that single parent households are more likely to be on means-tested assistance: “The Census Bureau data indicate that people living in intact families are less likely to be on government assistance than people living in broken families. Nonetheless, the government-dependency rate is still high for intact families that have children under 18.”

For kids under age six raised only by mom, a stunning 82% were in a home that received assistance.

Also shocking was that from 2013 through 2016 — four straight years — “a majority of those under 18 lived in a household taking means-tested benefits,” the study found.

Arnold Lockshin – a pawn in a very dirty and very important game (2)...


Essential background...


Crucial to the fulfillment of the reactionaries' dream of counter-revolution was the takeover of the Soviet secret police by imperialist agents, which was completed in 1934. In that year, foreign intelligence operative Генрих Ягода# organized the murder of the head of the Soviet secret police Председатель ОГПУ В.Р. Менжинский to become head of the renamed НКВД (Народный комиссариат внутренних дел СССР — NKVD, The People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs of the USSR). From this point on, enemy takeover by imperialist agents of the НКВД and then its successor the КГБ (KGB) was complete.


When the many crimes of Ягода were uncovered, he and his collaborators were tried, convicted and executed. But imperialist agents had so overwhelmed the Soviet secret services that Ягода was succeeded by someone even worse - Nazi agent Николай Ежов##, who organized an orgy of repression and mass murder of Soviet citizens. In the West (and not only the West), this gross violation of Soviet legality and human rights is falsely, incessantly and maliciously attributed to Иосиф Виссарионович Сталин (Joseph Stalin). In fact, when the brutal, fake anti-sabotage### campaign led by Ежов was uncovered by the Soviet government, he and his collaborators were also tried, convicted and executed.


In a series of posts Империализм: Генератор «Сталинских Репрессий», I have described in considerable detail the earlier years of the combined imperialist takeover of the Soviet secret services. The continuation of this usurpation is discussed in my 3-part series Секреты Развала Советского Союза. There is no need to repeat this material here, except to reiterate that enemy, principally United States, control of the secret services continued throughout the post-1934 Soviet years and most dangerously persists to this day in the now capitalist Russian Federation. That means CIA control of the present-day Федеральная служба безопасность (ФСБ) Российской Федерации - The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB).

With CIA rat Кhrushchev's slanderous and vile denunciation of Stalin in 1956, US – principally the CIA - control of the Communist Party and Soviet government was virtually complete. Khrushchev-CIA “house cleaning” of honest communists eliminated any sustained opposition to selling out the Soviet Union to imperialism. Counter-revolution could not be accomplished immediately, because the gains under socialism, even under very difficult circumstances, were evident and widespread and Soviet patriotism was manifest, particularly in view of the tremendous victory over the Nazis and Co. in the Great Patriotic War.


The features of the post-Stalin Soviet Union are well known. With imperialist agents, anti-communists and opportunists in control of society's superstructure (Party, government, political police, mass media, culture, etc.), degeneration and ultimately counter-revolution were inevitable. Corruption and personal aggrandizement by “leading comrades” grew in size and scope. The results were economic stagnation, deterioration of living standards, growing gaps between word and deed, adulation of the imperialist West and its “freedom (!),” loss of ideological orientation, etc. Not for everyone, to be sure, but reactionary forces in Soviet society became dominant.


Gorbachev's “перестройка» (perestroika) was the final stage of inevitable counter-revolution in the Soviet Union. Nothing less.


By 1986, the year when I was terrorized out of the US, the CIA and top ruling circles of the United States were fully aware that their prostituted stooges were in full control of the USSR and that complete destruction of the Soviet Union was only a few steps away.

How does all of the above relate to my case?

I engaged in my first actual political activity (outside of reading, thinking, arguing...) in 1960, when I was a senior in the University of California Berkeley. Well before 1960 (see above), the fate of the USSR was effectively sealed, although it would take another 30-plus years to deal the final blow.


As described in previous posts, long before my first – hardly earth shaking – concrete political participation, the vicious and merciless US secret political police were well tuned into me. As they would be for anyone with progressive, much less revolutionary, ideas. The American Gestapo is never content with just allowing someone to do his/her left-wing thing; they must take hostile action.


Once I demonstrated my commitment by joining the “Communist Party USA” and even becoming a full-time organizer, I was destined for murder. It is that simple. Murder, after all, for US imperialism is as common as breathing in, breathing out.


But not necessarily immediately, if the FBI and fellow fascists found some “use” for me.


And they did. Based on their malevolent reckoning, Arnold Lockshin was not only “useful,” but a prize – to keep on tap and manipulated until the time came when he had to be killed. Accordingly, the American secret political police would play with me, even on occasion coddle me, on other occasions terrorize me - but not prematurely commit murder.
