Dictatorship America – It's Inescapable
American phony “democracy” - that is, actual dictatorship - is not an accident nor a product of this-or-that president or other happenstance. CAPITALIST DICTATORSHIP IS AN INEVITABILITY! CAPITALIST DICTATORSHIP IS ESSENTIAL.
This dictatorship flows from the every essence of capitalism, especially in its imperialist stage.
The twin failures of capitalist “democracy” and capitalist “prosperity”...
Capitalism is based on EXPLOITATION. The very few receive the benefits from the labor of the very many. The system of capitalism leads to under-consumption by the masses of people, who cannot afford to buy back the totality of what they produce. Thus economic crises are also inevitable. To maintain its hold on power and wealth, it is ESSENTIAL for the ruling capitalist class to suppress the strivings of the majority for equality and a better life. This REQUIRES false “democracy” and actual dictatorship.
There are masses - many tens of millions - of impoverished and oppressed people in the United States of America and other imperialist countries. Nonetheless the imperialist countries have a generally higher standard of living than most of the rest of world. Imperialism's enthusiasts attribute this differential to the “wonder” of capitalist “democracy,” which alledgedly has thrust open the doors for human “advancement” and “prosperity.”
Imperialist “democracy” is an elaborately designed and cynical farce. There is no “town-hall democracy” in the US – or any other imperialist country – that accounts for the relatively better standard of living in the so-called “civilized” world.
The disappearing bases of capitalist “prosperity”...
The capitalist class and the governments it controls have devised essentially artificial – and in the long run, temporary - mechanisms to increase imperialist society's purchasing power: firstly, by (a) devaluing, i.e., “printing” money, so that it is largely divorced from its status – as opposed to its perception - as an actual repository of wealth; (b) by vastly increasing the amount of government and private debt. With allowances for occasional reversals, overall debt is astronomically high and is on the increase. A crash is inevitable. (See my series of posts “Modern Capitalism – The Marxist View.”)
Secondly, by MASS PLUNDERING AND EXPLOITATION OF OTHER PEOPLES AND NATIONS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.
While the less-than-1% of the population receives the lion's shares of the profit from this massive world-wide super-exploitation, capitalism's rulers have allowed the domestic populace to partially share in world plunder. Thus the average US consumer benefits from cheap materials and cheap products produced by super-exploited labor in countries under the heel of US and world imperialism.
This “sharing,” however, is on the way out. “Expensive” labor in the imperialist countires is continuing to be lost and shift to ultra-cheap labor in the economic colonies. Thus, decisively increased poverty in the US and other imperialist countries.
Even stalwart bourgeois economists and apologists cannot avoid mentioning the enormous income gulf between the tiny minority of rulers of the imperialist countries and the masses of people. “Top 1% Of Americans Are 70% Wealthier Than The Bottom 90%” (ZeroHedge, Sept. 27, 2017).
To repeat: the elaborate and often complicated devices of phony democracy necessarily flow from the very nature of the capitalist system itself.
