To give the appearance of fighting for the Palestinian cause, Abbas travels extensively to foreign capitals and “his” CIA subordinates project claims before the United Nations.
In principle, there is nothing wrong with trying to obtain international support for the Palestinian cause. However, in the case of the CIA-Abbas-PLO leadership these exercises are nothing more than a cover for doing nothing meaningful. In fact, worse than doing nothing, as the charades are intended to conceal the ruthless suppression of the liberation movement in PLO-controlled areas.
The world-wide imperialist mass media widely publicize Abbas' multiple meetings with world leaders.
The CIA-PLO “leader,” for instance, travels to Paris to meet with French President Macron to “plead” the Palestinian case. The latter “warmly” greets him. In fact, Macron, the sworn enemy of the French working class, will do nothing to advance the Palestinian cause.
The effectiveness of the United Nations can be judged by the following well known UN resolution:
"United Nations General Assembly Resolution 194 was adopted on December 11, 1948, near the end of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. The Resolution defined principles for reaching a final settlement and returning Palestine refugees to their homes. It resolved that “refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbours should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage to property which, under principles of international law or equity, should be made good by the Governments or authorities responsible.” (United Nations General Assembly Resolution 194, Wikipedia)
During the past nearly-70 years, nothing of the sort has happened, of course.
