Except for the existence and struggles of the Soviet Union, I would have been killed long ago.
To elaborate, except for U.S. imperialism's desperate and massive attempts to destroy the Soviet Union, I would be long, long ago dead.
There might have been an obituary notice or some incidental comment in a local newspaper. Or maybe nothing at all. Certainly nothing about the actual murderders. The cause of death would have been casually passed off as an “accident” or a “suicide”.
The actual killers would have been the United States secret political police, the United States Gestapo – whether the FBI, the CIA, some military agency or any of the other 16 or so components of the US “intelligence community”. Which particular one is a matter of little importance.
My Mother would have cried and cried and deeply mourned my demise. Which likely would have occurred long before her own death from disseminated breast cancer on January 1, 1981. If I had been murdered after that date, nobody would have given a damn. Not then, not now, not ever.

First we will provide current examples of what often happens to genuine political activists in the brutal police state dictatorship that is the United States of America.

The case of Danye Jones – and not only him...
“Danye Jones' Death Is Being Investigated as a Suicide. But His Mother, a Ferguson Activist, Says It's a Lynching" (The Root, Nov. 1, 2018)
“St. Louis County says they are investigating Jones’ death as a suicide. But his mother, Melissa McKinnies, a prominent protester who helped organize demonstrators during the Ferguson Uprising in 2014, says her son was lynched in retaliation for her activist work.
“McKinnies found her son on the morning of Oct. 17, his body hanging from a bedsheet which was tied around his neck... McKinnies says she knows her son didn’t kill himself.”
“In a Facebook post, McKinnies posted a picture of her son’s hanging. 'This is what I woke up to. They lynched my baby,' she wrote. 'I’m sick and losing my mind but I had to let the world see what they did to my baby.'
“Facebook removed the post.
“McKinnies says her son was murdered as retaliation for her activism. She insisted he was upbeat, not suicidal, and did not know how to tie the types of knots used in the ligature. The sheet used did not match the family’s sheets. And he had packed an overnight bag, which had been left on the patio...
“McKinnies said that she and her family have received death threats related to her work organizing protests following the killing of Michael Brown in 2014 (in Ferguson, Missouri). Those threats, which were delivered through social media, appeared to have escalated in the last two months.
“McKinnies is far from the first person to say she’s been targeted for her role in the Ferguson Uprising, the movement that followed in the wake of (young Black man) Michael Brown’s shooting death at the hands of police officer Darren Wilson. Activists in the area are still targeted and harassed. But others say the harassment has gone even further—police are still investigating the suspicious deaths of DeAndre Joshua, an activist killed in 2014, and Darren Seals, killed in 2016. Both were found inside torched vehicles.”
