Counter revolution and destruction of the Soviet Union were the decades-long product of brutal wars and intense conspiracies, threats and widespread subversion. Nothing was more important for world imperialism – above all for the United States of America – than overthrowing the first and most powerful socialist state.
“Перестройка» при МС Горбачеве was the final stage in the destruction of the Soviet Union. It was vital at that moment of history for utterly vicious US imperialism, its allies and their leading “soviet” collaborators to eliminate even potential opposition to the long-awaited objective.
The ludicrous and short-lived ГКЧП (Государственный комитет по чрезвычайному положению) was not a real danger. Even the CIA-stooge and traitorous head of the КГБ Крючков ВА joined the comic-operate putsch to help ensure its destruction from within.
But honest general officers and others in the military were a potential threat to the sinister anti-communist Горбачев — Ельцин - CIA coup in the country. The murder of Маршал Ахромеев was a preventative measure. He was killed on CIA orders.
A series of “suicide notes” was composed beforehand – presumably in fake simulation of his handwriting (although no handwriting analysis was conducted!). Then a phony “hanging” of the marshal was staged with the dead body. Again, no autopsy was even conducted to determine whether the victim actually died of hanging!
The actual murderers – the КГБ!
While the CIA certainly ordered the murder of Маршал Ахромеев, it would have been impossible for American CIA agents themselves to have entered the Kremlin and committed the murder. But they did not need to; they had “soviet” accomplices.

КГБ agents not only had access to the Kremlin. They were in fact “guarding” it!

The actual murderers were either КГБ agents or someone(s) hired by them for the “job.”
Poisoning (see section 8) was the most likely method used to kill Маршал Ахромеев.
