Addendum 1: The Phony and Racist “War on Drugs”...
A discussion of Dictatorship USA would not be complete without discussing the phony “drug war” in the USA (and in most of the world). An enormously profitable “war,” which also is used to impose additional dictatorial control on the oppressed Black and Brown populations in the US.
“In June 1971, President Nixon declared a “war on drugs.” He dramatically increased the size and presence of federal drug control agencies, and pushed through measures such as mandatory sentencing and no-knock warrants” (A Brief History of the Drug War | Drug Policy Alliance).
More than 46 years later, the “war” has proven to be a total failure: “Illicit drug use in the United States has been increasing. In 2013, an estimated 24.6 million Americans aged 12 or older—9.4 percent of the population—had used an illicit drug in the past month. This number is up from 8.3 percent in 2002” (National Institute on Drug Abuse, June 2015).

It is impossible to believe that the US government – with its massive police and secret political police apparatus - could not effectively block the drug trade – if that were the aim. The production and marketing of harmful “illegal” narcotics is a complicated procedure, which could be decisively interrupted or even closed down at multiple points. Narcotic substances are often grown and harvested in one area or country – usually outside the US, often processed elsewhere and then sold through a complicated international marketing process. There are established routes for the transport of the substances and for wholesale and then retail sales. None of this could possibly be some unfathomable mystery for “law enforcement.”
In spite of the fact that approximately 1- 2% of the Amgerican working-age population serves as part-time agents of the US secret political police and although there are well over one million uniformed law inforcement personnel in the country (Law enforcement in the United States, Wikipedia), drug use is not only not being stymied, it is in fact increasing! It is common knowledge that in the US harmful narcotic substances are readily available to anyone who wants them.
In fact, the production, unending distribution and massive sales of harmful narcotic substances are promoted by the US secret political police and drug “enforcement” agencies.

Yet in spite of the decades-long “War on Drugs”, the big-shot producers and dealers rarely get touched! The narcotics business always procedes as usual.
