It is the internal (within the Soviet Union itself) aspect of the simultaneous imperialist attack that is the subject matter of this series of posts.
There can be no serious question – as hard as the imperialist ideologues and apologists try – that the internal subversive assault against the socialist USSR was massive, persistent and variegated.
Any serious student of US (and not only US!) imperialism can identify dozens of subversive schemes designed to overthrow this or that government over the years.
As a single example, we can take the acknowledged CIA assassination attempts against Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro:
“The Church Committee (US Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities) stated that it substantiated eight attempts by the CIA to assassinate Fidel Castro in 1960–1965. 71 Fabián Escalante, a retired chief of Cuba's counterintelligence, who had been tasked with protecting Castro, estimated the number of assassination schemes or actual attempts by the Central Intelligence Agency to be 638, and split them among U.S. administrations as follows:

It made/makes little difference who the US president was/is; US imperialism and its vicious secret political police produce their heinous acts without interruption.
Any attempt to deny or minimize the enormous subversive imperialist operations against the Soviet Union amounts to nothing less than a damned and insidious lie.
Not only an attack on the heroic efforts to build socialism in the USSR. But at the same time, a fetid apologia for imperialism and fascism.
If there were excesses in the absolutely vital anti-subversive operations and/or if innocent people were caught up in the process - even so, the fundamental blame would fall on the pernicious and deadly – and unprovoked – imperialist plotters, disrupters and murderers.
Especially so, as stoking mass discontent through economic disruption, foul political chicanery, assassinations and unjustified brutal repression was precisely the aim of the imperialist enemies of socialism and the Soviet Union!
